Oh, Canada! It’s a wonderful place to visit, but you wouldn’t want to get sick there during your visit, and particularly not without traveler’s insurance. For proper protection and peace ofmind, all travelers should thoroughly investigate insurance options before beginning their adventures to other countries. Without the proper insurance you may not be eligible for reimbursement of emergency costs while you are new to or temporarily staying in Canada. Visitors Insurance is a must for returning Canadians, Foreign Workers, Tourists and Business Visitors.
Visitors Insurance should be purchased before you make your trip. If you wait until after you arrive in Canada ,you may be subject to a waiting period from 24 hours to 8 days. And somecompanies don’t offer coverage if you have been in the country for more than 30 days. That’s why GMS makes Visitor Medical Insurance in Canada plans available to immigrants, travelers, and visitors planning short and extended stays in Canada. These plans will provide up to 365 days of uninterrupted coverage without medical questions for those under 55, without a 48 hour waiting period and the need to reapply when re-entering Canada. The new Immigrants & Visitors to Canada Plan applies to visits in the United States, Mexico and Canada, as long as none of these countries is the country of origin. Your trip must also begin and end in Canada, with 50 percent of the trip being spent in Canada. The insurance covers ambulance charges, fees and costs for special attendants and reimbursement of costs for escorting insured children while you are ill.
GMS also offers Travel Star Insurance, which bundles together Emergency Medical and Trip Cancellation & Interruption coverage. You can add Baggage Loss, Damage & Delaycoverage to this plan to increase your protection while travelling as well.
GMS’s Student Health Plan, for students under 55, studying away from home, provides emergency medical coverage up to $2,000,000 with 17 comprehensive benefits including the cost of ambulance service, hospital rooms, and treatment by a doctor, diagnostic tests and in-hospital drugs. GMS provides Sports Participation Coverage as well, for when a school insurance plan does not provide full coverage. You may be eligible for any of these plans if you are an immigrant or visitor to Canada who is not covered under a provincial or territorial government plan. Please read your plan carefully before signing any contract, or call Arbetov Insurance for assistance.
