All you need to do is to contact our Insurance Advisors and provide your policy number and a new Effective Date.
Please keep in mind that date changes can only be made before your coverage begins.
If the insurance plan is purchased AFTER your arrival in Canada, your policy will be a subject to a Waiting Period:
– 48-hour waiting period for sicknesses (excluding injuries) if the policy was purchased within the first 60 days after your arrival in Canada.
– 7-day waiting period for sickness (excluding injuries) applies in case the policy was purchased after the first 61 days of the arrival date in Canada.
Important Notice:
Expenses related to any disease or sickness that manifests itself during the waiting period are not covered under this insurance plan, even when the costs are incurred after the waiting period has ended.

To receive the Side-Trips benefits you MUST physically remain in Canada for more than 50% of the total period of coverage provided by TuGo. Please note that in order for the benefit to work, you must arrive in Canada first before taking any side-trips.
Please note that TuGo does not compensate you for any medical costs incurred or time spent in the country of your origin.

– You do not know of any reason to seek medical attention at the time of application.
– You are legally admissible to Canada as a Visitor/Tourist, Foreign Worker, New Immigrant or Returning Canadian, who are not eligible for the Provincial Health Care Coverage at the time of entry to Canada.
– You are not receiving palliative care or palliative care has not been recommended.
– You do not have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), including emphysema, requiring home oxygen.
– You do not have pancreatic cancer, liver cancer or any type of cancer that has
metastasized or that required a bone marrow transplant.
– You do not have kidney disease requiring dialysis.
– You have not had or are not waiting for an organ transplant.
– You have not been diagnosed with congestive heart failure also known as
pulmonary edema.
– You are not travelling against advice of a physician.
– You have not been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Coverage for stable pre-existing medical conditions is available with TuGo’s Visitors to Canada insurance plan under the following circumstances:
Applicants 59 y.o. and under: Coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that are stable for at least 90 days immediately prior to the start date of the insurance policy is automatically included at no additional cost.
Applicants 60 to 69 y.o.: You will need to complete a medical questionnaire to determine your eligibility for the stable pre-existing medical conditions coverage. If you are eligible, then you can include the coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that are stable for at least 120 days immediately prior to the start date of the insurance policy, provided you pay additional premium.
Applicants 70 to 85 y.o.: You will need to complete a medical questionnaire to determine your eligibility for the stable pre-existing medical conditions coverage. If you are eligible, then you can include the coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that are stable for at least 180 days immediately prior to the start date of the insurance policy, provided you pay additional premium.
Applicants 86 y.o. & older: You will need to complete a medical questionnaire to determine your eligibility for the stable pre-existing medical conditions coverage. If you are eligible, then you can include the coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that are stable for at least 365 days immediately prior to the start date of the insurance policy, provided you pay additional premium.
In order to purchase Unstable Pre-Existing Medical Conditions Coverage as an endorsement to your Medical Emergency Insurance with Tugo, you must:
– Be 79 y.o. or under at the time of application
TuGo agrees to pay reasonable and customary charges up to the sum insured of your Medical Emergency Insurance for an acute and unexpected emergency medical condition incurred as a result of your pre-existing medical conditions that were not stable and existed before the effective date of the policy.
To be eligible, all medical costs must result from an emergency that first occurs after your insurance starts (including any applicable waiting period) and while you are travelling outside your country of permanent residence i.e. you are in Canada or on a side-trip.
Please note that any pre-existing medical condition that is not stable on or within the 7 days before the effective date of your policy are excluded from coverage.
– A full premium refund is available, when the request for compensation is received BEFORE the effective date indicated on the insurance policy, provided no travel to Canada has taken place. No fee applies.
– A full premium refund is available, when the request for refund is received AFTER the effective date of the policy within 10 days of purchasing your insurance, provided no travel to Canada has taken place. No fee applies.
– A full premium refund is available, when the request for refund is received AFTER the effective date of the policy and AFTER 10 days of purchasing your insurance (within 90 days of the expiry date of your policy), provided no travel to Canada has taken place. Administration fee will apply.
– If a Super Visa application was rejected, a 100% premium refund is available, if the request for compensation is receiver BEFORE the effective date indicated on the policy. A satisfactory proof of visa refusal is required.
Important Notice: Applicable to 1-year policies with at least $100,000 coverage (Super Visa insurance), you can cancel the policy if no travel to Canada has taken place for a refund. However, a $250 fee will apply if you decide to cancel without a satisfactory proof of visa denial. Such requests can be submitted after the Effective Date and within the first 90 days following the expiry date of your policy.
– You request a refund due to an Early Departure to your home country. Refunds are calculated from the date you return or, if submitted later, the date you submit your refund application for the aforementioned reason.
– You become eligible for a Provincial Medical Plan health plan, while being covered by TuGo. The refund will be calculated starting from the same day you become eligible and/or covered under the government health care plan or, if submitted later, the date you submit your refund application for the aforementioned reason.
All Partial Refunds are subject to an administration fee.
All refund requests must be received by TuGo no later than 90 days following the expiry date of your coverage with TuGo.

In order to proceed with a claim you need to do the following:
– Complete a Claim Form, which will be sent to you by TuGo, and attach all original itemized medical receipts for treatment and prescription medication.

An email address you provide on the application form will be used by the insurer for communication.
