Side Trips Benefits

Please note that SRMRM has per policy deductible, meaning that you are required to pay the chosen deductible in full only once regardless of the number of possible claims you may have.

Side-Trips Benefit:

SRMRM will cover costs for medical treatment, which has resulted from an emergency anywhere outside Canada with an exception of you home country or any other state, where you are eligible for a government health care. In order to qualify for Side-Trips coverage, you MUST physically remain in Canada for more than 75% of the policy coverage period.

Eligibility Requirements:

You are eligible for coverage under SRMRM: Visitors to Canada policy, if:

– You are not eligible and/or covered by the Provincial Medical Care Plan.
– You are not residing in a nursing home or rehabilitation center.
– You are in good health and you have no reason to seek medical attention.


Waiting Period:

No waiting period applies to any SRMRM policies that were bought BEFORE your arrival in Canada.

A 48-hour Waiting Period will only apply if:

– You purchase SRMRM medical coverage AFTER you arrive in Canada.

Making a Claim with SRMRM:

If there is a medical emergency, you or someone on your behalf has to notify Emergency Assistance Provider prior to making a claim, if it is possible.

If you do not contact Claims Assistant Center within the first 24 hours of hospitalization will result in limitation of the benefits under this policy to 70% of eligible expenses to a maximum of $25,000.

Emergency Assistance Provider is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

In order to proceed with a claim you need to do the following:

– Complete and sign a Claim Form.
– Attach all original medical receipts or other conformation of payment.
– Include brief explanation of your medical situation.
– Send the above documents to the address provided below.

Please note that all claims have to be submitted within the first 30 days from the moment you have received medical treatment as well as written proof of the claim has to be filed within 90 days of occurrence.

Premium Refunds:

Please, note that requests for Premium Refunds will not be approved, in case there were any claims made during the period of coverage.

Full Refunds are available for Visitors to Canada, if:

– You cancel your policy within 10 days from the moment of purchase, in case it happens BEFORE the effective date.
– Your Super Visa application has been rejected.

Partial Refunds are available with $25 administration fee and 12% charge based on the amount to be refunded, if:

– You cancel your policy due to Early Departure to your home country.
– You become eligible and/or covered by the Provincial Medical Care Plan.

Important Notice: Partial Refunds are calculated from the date a written notification is received by SRMRM as well as SRMRM reserves the right to limit and/or restrict premium refunds depending on your documentation.
